So much of the audience reaction to the 2009 film, 500 Days of Summer (directed by a pre-Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb), has been split between a sort of demonization of either one of the two romantic leads of the film, Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Summer (Zooey Deschanel).
