Today was the first time Clickbust actually ran in production. Not a test run. Not a dry run. The real thing. It caught a few things. Nothing dramatic. No massive takedowns. But it worked.
What struck me was the silence. When you spend months building something, you imagine a moment of triumph. Fireworks. Celebratory emails. What you get is a quiet logger output and a server that doesn't crash. Which is good. That's what you actually want.
The pattern matching held up. The false positive rate was lower than expected. Someone on the team said it felt anticlimactic. I told them that's how software should feel. If it's exciting, something has gone wrong.
It reminded me of the first time a friend launched a side project. He stayed up all night refreshing analytics. Nothing happened for three days. Then a trickle. Then a flood. Today was the trickle.
The real test is tomorrow. And the day after. But today, Clickbust ran. That's enough.
