Clickbust ran today. First time in production. Six months of work and it finally did its thing without falling over. That moment when you hit deploy and hold your breath. It passed.
The thing that caught me was how quiet it was. No fanfare. Just a few people in a Slack channel watching logs scroll by. One guy said "looks good" and that was it. No confetti. No party. Just the system doing what it was supposed to do.
It made me think about how we measure success. In the build up you imagine a big moment. A launch. A reveal. But the reality is a bunch of tired people staring at a screen at 4pm on a Tuesday. The real win is that nothing broke. That is success for most software.
Clickbust is supposed to kill junk headlines. Train a model to spot the patterns. The ones that say "you won't believe" or "doctors hate this". We will see if it works at scale. But for today it ran. That is enough.
The only drama was a minor DNS propagation delay. Someone had to update a CNAME. That was the emergency. I will take that over a full outage any day.
Tomorrow we look at the metrics. Today we just let it settle. Then do it again. That is the cycle. Build, ship, fix, repeat.
