You Bought It Because It Was Cheap. Now It Sits Unused.

11 September 2026

Walk through any British home. You will find a drawer of charging cables that seemed like a bargain. A cupboard of sauces bought on three for two. A wardrobe of clothes that were reduced but never worn. The deal felt good. The object itself was never the point.

Deal hunting is a thrill. The brain releases dopamine when you spot a discount. But that hunt has a cost. You spend time searching, comparing, queuing. You buy things you do not need. You store them in space you pay for. The money leaves your account. The value never arrives.

The middle class trap is a full house and an empty bank account. Everything is reduced. Nothing is needed.

Try a different rule. Ask one question before you buy. Would I pay full price for this right now? If the answer is no, the discount is not a saving. It is a loss. A fifty percent discount on something you do not use is still a hundred percent waste.

The richest people I know buy less. They buy boring things that last. They ignore yellow stickers unless the item was already on their list. They leave the deal for someone else.

Stop celebrating discounts. Start celebrating gaps on shelves.
