Deals Are the New Full Price

18 September 2026

I walked past a queue outside a phone shop yesterday. People were waiting for a launch day. Not a sale. A launch. They were excited to pay full price for something that will be half price in six months.

That is the trick the market plays. New is dressed up as better. But new is just new. It has no history. No track record. Just a price tag that includes the cost of your impatience.

Deal hunting is not about being cheap. It is about being awake. The same product sits on the shelf for a month and drops twenty percent. Nothing changed except the date on the label. The phone did not get worse. The TV did not lose picture quality. The only thing that changed is your willingness to wait.

Retailers know this. That is why they push pre-orders and limited drops. They need you to feel the clock. But the clock is on their side, not yours. Every day an item sits unsold is a day they pay for storage. Eventually they blink.

I am not saying never buy new. I am saying ask what the rush is. The deal will come. It always comes. The only question is whether you can stand the quiet while you wait.

The best price is not the one on the tag. It is the one you pay after everyone else has moved on. That is not a discount. That is a reward for patience.
